This ball came from the folks who run the rummage sale at the Baptist church. I had to pay for this one, but it was a lovely red swirl, and since so many of the balls I use don't cost me anything, I didn't mind (too much!). Anyhow, I covered it with red hearts, translucent round red and clear, red with cat eye and clear with white cat eye. This ended up being Little Man's (see my other blog [also - that is his picture on my profile]) marker on June 30, 2009. Fitting, since he will always be in our hearts.

Ball #55
This ball also came from my friend's son. It was a turquoise swirl, but was badly beaten up so I painted it creamy white. I covered it with irregular cobalt with a white swirl, solid cobalt, opaque white, periwinkle, and clear with a periwinkle cat eye. It is grouped with ball #1 and ball #50 on the window seat in the dining room. This ball is one of my favorites.

Ball #32

Here's the sixth of six balls I received from the Baptist Church. It was maroon and I covered it with small clear, small brushed and small clear with white cat eye. Also, I used large clear and painted tulips on the flat back side. You can tell my painting is very primitive, but I enjoyed trying something different. I used paint made especially for painting on glass. This ball spent the summer at a nursery in 2007 but didn't sell. Since then it has been in it's carrier in my front room, waiting for me to do something with it. The painted pieces didn't hold up well in the weather, so I don't feel right about trying to sell it as a garden ornament.May 26, 2009 - This ball is now marking the burial site of our beloved girl cat Cammie.

Ball #1 is Done!!!
At long last, ball #1 is grouted!! Woo hoo!!! We had a hypertufa party in early October and while we were playing in the concrete, decided it was the perfect time to grout some garden bricks we had made 2 years earlier. I decided that while I had group support, I would also do this ball. It's great to finally finish a project!

Ball #16

This ball was one of four given to me by my cousin's mother-in-law during the summer of 2006. It was black and I painted it hammered bronze and decorated it with 2 layers of pennies, include some Canadian and some wheat pennies. I gave it to my husband, who put it out on our deck so it could get "patina".

Ball #13
My aunt (the recipient of the giant bowling pin) found this ball for me. It was white and I painted it with hammered silver. It is decorated with large and small translucent green and opaque white marbles in a flower power pattern. It has resided on the north side of the house in the hosta bed for a couple of years.
Ball #11
Here's the third ball from the rummage sale. It was black and I painted it with hammered green fusion paint. It was decorated with green and amber marbles in a flower power design and has spent two winters and three summers outdoors in my sunflower patch. In that time it has only lost one or two marbles.
