Ball #101

This ball was one of the five rescued by a Rotarian when his neighbor was going to throw them away. (Gasp!) It was a black and red swirl (the kind that bowling alleys have for the amateurs) and I painted it green. It is covered with a variety of translucent and opaque greens and highlighted with black-eyed susan flowers made with opaque yellow with a brown center. This ball was purchased by Dad for our uncle.

Ball #98

I am pretty sure that this is another ball that came from my friend's son. (See what happens when I don't make notes immediately?) This ball was an orange swirl so I covered it with peach clear, peach beach, peach oblong, orange iridescent, mini amber and mini clear in concentric circles and flower power. It also has three amber fish.

Ball #90

This was a pink swirly ball found by a friend in a house she is re-habbing. I covered it with expanded flower power (flower power with concentric circles) in light, medium and dark purple. Also mini-purple, pink, clear and clear with white cat-eye. It was purchased by Dad and given to a Rotary friend.

Ball #87

I bought this ball from the Lutheran Church rummage sale. It was green swirl and I covered it with flower power in white, opaque green and black. The background is filled in with translucent green. (Thanks to finding them half price at Walmart.) Update 5-15-11 - donated to a fundraiser.

Ball #56

Here's another ball from the Baptist Church. This one was a green and maroon swirl and I covered it with turquoise and clear stripes. It also featured a some flower power made with large clear rounds and ovals. I gave it to my contact at the Baptist church as a Thank You gift in August of 2008.

This ball also came from my friend's son. It was an eggplant color and I decorated it with flower power purple with clear with white cat eye centers and clear background fill. I photographed it on a cloudy day and none of the pictures do it justice. It sold at the garden center during the summer of 2008.

My friend's son found this on his disposal route. It was red and I covered it with flower power red with clear with white cat eye centers and clear filler. It sold at the garden center during the 2008 summer season.

Ball #51

This ball came from the sales rep of a company my employer does business with. It was a deep green and I covered it with orange and yellow flower power and filled in the background with clear round and ovals. It sold at the garden center during the summer of 2008.

Ball #48

This was the 9th ball (according to my notes) from the Baptist Church. It was jade green and I covered it with clear red flower power with tomato opaque centers. The filler marbles were red iridescent. This one sold at a garden center during the summer of 2008.

Ball #45

This ball originally belonged to a friend of my mother. Mom bought it from an estate sale after her friend's death. It was a green and turquoise swirl pattern. I used large and small clear and oval marbles, clear flowers, and white opaque flower power with a turquoise center. I used an large oval over the engraved name on the ball. I gave the finished ball to Mom and she has it in her sun room, which is aqua and white.

Ball #40

This was the second ball rescued by my friend's son. I used this ball to fill an order from a friend of my mother. She told me basically what colors she wanted and this was the result: off white background, opaque orange & lime iridescent flower power, peach iridescent and translucent filler. This commission was in Spring of 2007.

Ball #37

Here is another ball my Aunt got from a bowling alley. This one was cracked - I assume a casualty during finger hole drilling. It was black with sparkles. I painted it white and covered it with opaque orange & green flower power, iridescent opaque aqua, and clear with aqua cat eye. I gave this one to my mother for Valentine's Day, 2007. It matches the colors in her sun room, where it currently resides. Because of the cracks it was not weather resistant, so it worked out perfectly to have an indoor place for it.

Ball #36

My Aunt got this ball from a bowling alley. It was pink and yellow fluorescent - pretty hideous, actually. I covered it with opaque white and yellow flower power and then used clear for fill. The marbles muted the colors and the end result was very cheerful and unusual. It sold at the garden center during the summer of 2007.

Ball #34

Aqua swirl balls seem to be very popular. Here's another one that my cousin gave to me. I decorated it in a flower power pattern with clear with aqua cat eye, opaque aqua, opaque white, and small clear. I sold it to a friend as a gift for her mother in law.

Ball #33

Here is another attempt at painting on the reverse side of a large clear glass marble. This time it is my trademark mushroom. I've been doing these since junior high with little variation. (and even less artistic talent!!!) Anyhow, this ball came from one of my cousins who has no idea how it arrived at his house. It was deep green, my favorite color, so I covered it with red and white flowers, large painted mushrooms, and small clear with dark green cat eyes. My friend saw a picture of this ball and said she liked it, so I sent it to her as a Christmas/birthday present.

Ball #27

This is the first of 6 balls I got from the man who runs the Baptist Church's rummage sale and clothes closet. I had stopped in to their semi-annual sale and asked about bowling balls. He told me they throw them out because nobody wants them. After clutching my heart and catching my breath, I assured him that I would be thrilled to have them and would be happy to pick them up whenever he got some. I gave him my card and since then (November of 2006) he has supplied my with quite a few. This was the first installment of 6 balls, which I picked up December 9, 2006. It was a beautiful maroon swirl, so I covered it with opaque white, large clear, and small clear with white cat eye in a flower power pattern. It didn't sell at the garden center in 2007, but did this summer at the other garden center.

Ball #25

This is the third ball from the Lutheran rummage sale. It was black and I painted it silver and covered it with deep purple and opaque white in a flower power pattern. This ball was a commission piece for my cousin's aunt.

Ball #24

This was the second ball I got from the Lutheran rummage sale. It was navy and I painted it periwinkle and decorated it with opaque periwinkle and clear with a periwinkle cat-eye in a flower power pattern. (Old habits are hard to break!) This ball sold at a garden center during the summer of 2007.

Ball #21

This was the second ball given to me by my sister's aunt. It is turquoise and I covered it with opaque white, clear with turquoise cat eye, and clear in a flower power pattern. I gave this one to my sister's mother-in-law.

Ball #20

This is ball one of two given to me by my sister's husband's aunt. (Got that?) It is purple, so I decorated it with white opaque, clear with white cat eye, and clear beach glass in a flower power pattern. Since this aunt's favorite color is purple, I gave it back to her once it was decorated.
