Ball #72 Update

My friend sent me these pictures, taken this past weekend. So glad the chippy approved!

Ball #104

The fifth ball and probably my last. (But never say never!) This ball was black and I painted it yellow. It is covered in a rainbow pattern with a star at the north pole and then ROYGBIV (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) more or less to the equator and then reversing to the south pole. It was given to my pastor and his family for their garden August 2011.

Ball #103

Another of the five balls. This one was black and I covered it with purple, lavendar and clear. Also mini purple & clear and clear fish. May 2012 update - Dad bought this ball for a Rotary friend.

Ball #102

The third of five rescued balls. I painted this one navy and covered it with opaque periwinkle, and a variety of blue marine shaped marbles that came from The Christmas Tree Shop, including fish, sea horses, star fish and shells.

Ball #101

This ball was one of the five rescued by a Rotarian when his neighbor was going to throw them away. (Gasp!) It was a black and red swirl (the kind that bowling alleys have for the amateurs) and I painted it green. It is covered with a variety of translucent and opaque greens and highlighted with black-eyed susan flowers made with opaque yellow with a brown center. This ball was purchased by Dad for our uncle.

Ball #100

And now for something completely different.....

It was my intention to stop after #100, until one of Dad's Rotary friends showed up with 5 more balls for me! Here is the first one. It was black. I had some bright lime colored marbles that I bought thinking I could do a smiley face with them. I tried various patterns but it never looked quite right so I gave up. Since then I had acquired a large amount of shiny black marbles, so I decided to do lime & orange dragonflies with black filler. It ain't subtle, that's for sure!  Update - May 2012 - I donated this ball to The Rotary as a door prize for their Golf Tournament, which will be held in August.

Ball #99

Another ball from my friend's son (I think!). This one was blue and I covered it with aqua translucent and cat eye. It is accented with glass sea horses, star fish and shells that came from The Christmas Tree Shop last summer. More concentric circles. Given to the Rotary friend who gave came up with five balls for me.

Ball #98

I am pretty sure that this is another ball that came from my friend's son. (See what happens when I don't make notes immediately?) This ball was an orange swirl so I covered it with peach clear, peach beach, peach oblong, orange iridescent, mini amber and mini clear in concentric circles and flower power. It also has three amber fish.

Ball #97

I can't remember where I got this ball, but I think it was from my friend's son. It was a lovely silvery blue color. I found a marble mix that included mini opaque silver, clear mini, and clear mini with sparkles. I combined them with some small and large opaque white marbles that had some veins of greyish blue. The design was concentric circles. I think of it as the "Polar Ball". It was donated to the Rotary for their golf tournament. (It also kind of looks like a giant golf ball. Hopefully whoever wins it will enjoy it.

Ball #96

Another ball from my friend's son, this time a dark red sparkle. I covered it with 3 shades of red, white stars, and opaque white & black rounds.

Ball #95

This ball came from my friend's son and was black. I painted it nickel shimmer and covered it with opaque mocha and chocolate brown, as well as translucent amber. It is accented with large clear translucent rounds and 3 amber butterflies.

Ball #94

This ball came from one of Dad's Rotarians in July 2010. It was black and I painted it yellow. It is decorated in concentric rows of clear with yellow cat eye and translucent cornflower blue. It was given back to the donor in thanks, since he had given me several other balls a few years ago. May 16, 2011 update: Given to a Rotarian for his neighbor, who gave me 5 balls.

Ball #93

This ball came from a church rummage sale. It was deep green and I decorated it in "daisy" flower power. The daisies are opaque white with opaque yellow centers. The background fill is various shades of green. There are occasional highlights of bottle glass with a green cat eye. This ball went to a church bazaar and was purchased by Mom for her garden in July 2010.

Ball #92

This ball came from a church rummage sale. It was black and I painted it navy. It is decorated with cobalt stars, large cobalt rounds, opaque periwinkle and clear with a periwinkle cat eye. I sold it at a church craft bazaar in July 2010.

Ball #91

This ball was given to me by a friend from church. It was black or dark maroon with no gloss at all on its surface. I painted it flat hunter green and decorated it with marine mixture. It is accented with glass seahorses and shells that I purchased at The Christmas Tree Shop and was given to a friend in exchange for helping me pull out old fences and a stump.

Ball #90

This was a pink swirly ball found by a friend in a house she is re-habbing. I covered it with expanded flower power (flower power with concentric circles) in light, medium and dark purple. Also mini-purple, pink, clear and clear with white cat-eye. It was purchased by Dad and given to a Rotary friend.

Ball #89

This was a green swirl ball that I bought at the Catholic Church's rummage sale in May 2010. I decorated it with dragonflies made of opaque green bodies with white or black wings. The background was filled in with various shades of translucent green, some of them iridescent. This ball was given to my nephew and his family at Christmas 2010.

Ball #88

This ball came from the April 2010 Lutheran Church rummage sale. It was black and I painted it cream. The paint was running and not adhering well, so I then did a splatter coat of nickel shimmer. I covered it with the dragonfly pattern in opaque aqua and lime green and filled in the background with clear with aqua or lime cat eye.

Ball #87

I bought this ball from the Lutheran Church rummage sale. It was green swirl and I covered it with flower power in white, opaque green and black. The background is filled in with translucent green. (Thanks to finding them half price at Walmart.) Update 5-15-11 - donated to a fundraiser.
